AHA’s – Let’s Talk Exfoliation

What does AHA mean?

AHA stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid. Sounds a little intimidating right? But actually, when you look at where these AHA’s come from they don’t seem so scary anymore.

AHA’s are water-soluble acids and the most commonly used out of the seven types frequently found in skincare is…Glycolic Acid (which comes from sugar cane) and…Lactic Acid (which was first discovered in lactose, hence the name, but this form of acid can be found in other carbohydrates as well)  – so never fear our vegan beauties we’ve got you covered 😉

The Benefits!

Okay! So now we know where these bad boy acids come from we still don’t fully know WHY exactly we would ever want to use them and WHAT do they do?

An AHA’s primary function is even and efficient exfoliation however, the resulting benefits of this particular exfoliation method are:

  • Promotes collagen production
  • Increases blood flow
  • Corrects discoloration
  • Helps reduce the appearance of scars or age spots
  • Helps reduce surface lines and wrinkles
  • Prevents acne breakouts
  • Brightens your complexion
  • Increases other product absorption

All of this from essentially removing dead skin cells and bacteria from the face, which encourages new cells to take their place. Kinda like a snake, but not as dramatic and way more gradual.

Welcome to the team ALOÉ TONIC

Our new liquid exfoliant contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA), which gently remove dead skin cells and perfectly prepare the skin for the other ingredients within the formula:

Alpha Hydroxy Acids: ensure a gentle exfoliation and promote the cell renewal of the skin

Aloe Vera:  moisturising and soothing properties

Cucumber Water: antioxidant-rich with moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties

Hyaluronic Acid: helps instantly increase the moisture content of the skin – helps maintain soft and supple skin

How often you decide use this exfoliator depends on your skin – try it out once a week and find the perfect frequency for yourself!
